When asked who they associate the word 'narcissist' with, people usually mention someone from their friends who floods social media with selfies and self-promotion, is overly concerned with their appearance or flexes their muscles in front of the mirror in the gym more than they exercise there. They associate it with someone self-obsessed and hungry for admiration. But this is a misleading simplification. "Narcissism" is a heterogeneous term, and people with this personality style vary. It is possible to meet a narcissistic individual and be under the spell of his apparent shyness, illusory sensitivity or illusory reflexivity. And one may not even suppose that one is dealing with a narcissist. A love relationship with a narcissist, on the other hand, is devastating and potentially dangerous. One type of narcissism is called sensitive narcissism, also known as covert narcissism. People with this personality style are often described as shy, sensitive to the judgement of others, in a world of fantasy and illusion. But also as defensively arrogant, conceited and apodictic. This book deals with the issues of a love relationship with such a person and healing after a break-up.
