Polish Flowers belong to the canon of Polish literature. The work is written in verse and, in its form, refers to the romantic digressive poem characteristic of Adam Mickiewicz''s poems. The plot of the work relates to the tragic fate of Poland in the first half of the 20th century, which we follow through the eyes of the narrator – representing the author''s point of view as well as the main characters of the poem – Ignacy Dziewierski and his granddaughter Aniela. Special attention should be paid to the extraordinary originality of this genre, characterized among other things by minimizing central intrigue in favor of lyrical, digressive, and ironic content. Polish Flowers are considered one of the most beautiful and enigmatic expressions of patriotism in Polish literature, as well as a love for one''s native language.
