Paderewski

Ignacy Jan Paderewski (1860-1941) a world-famous pianist and composer, politician, statesman, philanthropist, outstanding orator and a tireless campaigner for Polish independence. He devoted his life, his compositional ambitions and his dazzling virtuoso career to the Polish cause. As a child, he dreamt of becoming "someone" and saving his homeland. He fulfilled this dream thanks to his abilities and titanic work, he became an idol, a star, a celebrity and the highest-paid pianist in history, adored on all continents. Moreover, as an erudite with a profound sense of humour, he endeared himself to the most important crowned and uncrowned heads of state, ultimately becoming one of the architects of Polish independence.
