Haymitch Abernathy of the Twelfth District prefers not to ponder what fate will bring. He just wants to get through the day and meet the girl he loves. When he hears his name called, he feels his future is in ruins. He has to leave his loved ones and go to the Capitol, accompanied by three other Tributes from the Twelve: a friend who is like a younger sister, a compulsive analyst and the biggest snob in town.
