Jules César, décidé à repousser un peu plus loin les limites de son empire, prépare une véritable armada de légionnaires surentraînés pour envahir la Bretagne (aujourd’hui Grande-Bretagne).
Pour aider son cousin breton Jolitorax dans sa lutte contre les légions romaines, Astérix traverse la Mare Britannicum (Manche) accompagné d’Obélix et d’un tonneau rempli de « magique potion ».
Commence alors pour les deux amis un périple au pays où on parle à l’envers, on boit la cervoise chaude, on sert le sanglier bouilli et on joue au rugby (pour le plus grand plaisir d’Obélix) !
Heureusement, nos héros sauront résister à toutes ces épreuves, n’est-il pas ?
